IL HB4553

Amends the Circuit Courts Act to require the General Assembly to redraw the boundaries of Cook County Circuit's 15 subcircuits in 2021 based on results of the 2020 federal decennial census.

Requires that resident judgeships assigned to a subcircuit continue to be assigned to that subcircuit after boundary redrawing.

Specifies that any vacancy in a resident judgeship existing on or occurring after the effective date of the law redrawing subcircuit boundaries shall be filled by a resident of the redrawn subcircuit.

Maintains the existing requirement that Cook County Circuit have 165 resident judges total, with 11 judges elected from each of the 15 subcircuits.
