IL HB4557

Amends the Election Code Section 11-4.1 to change the requirement for school districts when selected as polling places on election day.

Changes school district obligation from "encouraged to" close school or hold a teachers institute day to "shall" (mandatory requirement) close school or hold a teachers institute with students not in attendance.

Requires county boards or election commissioners to make schools and public buildings available as polling places without charge upon request.

Requires government agencies providing polling places to ensure accessibility for voters with disabilities and elderly voters, and to allow election authorities to administer elections as authorized.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
