Defines "connected automated braking system" as a system that electronically coordinates braking between a lead vehicle and following vehicles through vehicle-to-vehicle communication.

Defines "platoon" as a group of individual motor vehicles that travel in a unified manner at electronically coordinated speeds.

Exempts drivers operating in a platoon or with a connected automated braking system from Illinois Vehicle Code provisions prohibiting following another vehicle too closely.

Requires persons operating a platoon on Illinois streets or highways to file a plan for general platoon operations with the Department of State Police and the Department of Transportation.

Allows platoon operations to proceed if neither the Department of State Police nor the Department of Transportation reject the plan within 30 days of receipt.
