Exempts substitute teacher employees from the physical fitness requirement that applies to other school district employees, but allows school boards to require it.

Requires school boards to require new substitute teacher employees to provide evidence of freedom from communicable disease through a physical examination conducted not more than 90 days before presentation to the board.

Specifies that physical examinations for substitute teachers may be performed by a physician licensed in Illinois or another state, a licensed advanced practice nurse, or a licensed physician assistant, with costs borne by the substitute teacher employee.

Authorizes school boards to require additional health examinations, including tuberculosis screening, for substitute teachers as required by the Department of Public Health or local public health officials.

Allows school boards to require periodic examinations of substitute teacher employees at the board's expense from school funds.
