Shortens waiver periods for physical education mandates from 5 school years to 2 school years, with a maximum of 2 renewals instead of unlimited renewals.

Allows school boards to change physical education waivers within the 2-year period following the same procedure required for initial waiver requests.

Replaces the requirement that pupils engage in physical education for a minimum of 3 days per 5-day week with a requirement of 150 minutes per week for elementary students and 225 minutes per week for high school students.

Permits school boards to determine the schedule and frequency of physical education courses while meeting the new weekly minute requirements.

Takes effect July 1, 2018.
