IL HB4797

Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Administrative Act and the Illinois Public Aid Code to establish minimum wage requirements for front-line personnel in developmental disabilities services.

Requires direct support persons to earn a base wage of at least $5.25 per hour above the highest applicable minimum wage (federal, state, county, or municipal) by July 1, 2018, with other front-line personnel earning commensurate wages.

Increases the minimum wage requirement for direct support persons to at least $6.75 per hour above the highest applicable minimum wage by July 1, 2020, with other front-line personnel earning commensurate wages.

Applies to front-line personnel including direct support persons, aides, supervisors, qualified intellectual disabilities professionals, nurses, and support staff in residential facilities, day programs, and service coordination agencies serving persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
