IL HB4884

Amends the Election Code to explicitly permit political committees controlled by officeholders or candidates to pay child care expenses for their minor children as customary and reasonable expenses related to governmental and public service functions.

Specifies that child care expenses are included in allowable expenditures of political committee funds, adding this to the existing list of permissible uses in Section 9-8.10.

Maintains all existing restrictions on political committee fund usage, including prohibitions on personal expenses, debts, clothing, travel, club memberships, educational expenses, and improper payments to officials or family members.

Grants the State Board of Elections authority to investigate violations and levy fines up to $500 per violation or the amount of expenditure plus $500 for larger violations.
