Municipalities must notify all municipalities within 15 miles before installing and operating an automated traffic law enforcement system.

Municipalities and counties must post locations of automated traffic law enforcement systems on their websites to provide notice to drivers.

Yellow change intervals at intersections with automated systems must conform to the Illinois Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (IMUTCD).

Municipalities and counties must conduct statistical analysis assessing safety impact of each system within 36 months of installation and publish results on their website.

If accident rates increase at monitored intersections, the municipality or county must undertake additional studies and take necessary action to reduce accidents.
