HB5128 Summary

• Amends the River Conservancy Districts Act to change trustee appointment procedures for districts embracing Franklin and Jefferson counties.

• Establishes that municipalities with 6,500+ population shall appoint one trustee per 6,500 residents through the municipal presiding officer with advice and consent of corporate authorities.

• Requires each county in the district to appoint one trustee from areas outside municipalities covered above and one trustee at large, appointed by the county board chairperson with advice and consent of the county board.

• Applies new appointment requirements only to trustees appointed on or after the effective date of this act, allowing existing trustees to complete their current terms.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
