Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, kindergarten students may not receive out-of-school suspensions of 3 days or less for disrupting other students' learning opportunities.

Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year, kindergarten students may not receive out-of-school suspensions longer than 3 days for substantially disrupting, impeding, or interfering with school operations.

School officials must limit the number and duration of expulsions and suspensions to the greatest extent practicable and consider non-exclusionary discipline before using out-of-school suspensions or expulsions.

Students suspended out-of-school for longer than 4 school days must be provided appropriate and available support services during the suspension period.

School districts must create policies to facilitate re-engagement of students who are suspended, expelled, or returning from alternative school settings, and allow suspended students to make up work for equivalent academic credit.
