Parents or guardians may submit written objection to prevent their child from participating in comprehensive sex education classes in grades 6-12 without penalty to the student.

Sex education instruction must be developmentally and age-appropriate, medically accurate, evidence-based, and include substantial emphasis on both abstinence and contraception for preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.

Course material must teach honor and respect for monogamous heterosexual marriage and include discussion of emotional and psychological consequences of adolescent sexual intercourse and unwanted pregnancy.

Instruction must cover sexual consent, sexual harassment, and sexual assault with emphasis on workplace and college campus environments, along with laws regarding unlawful sexual relations and financial responsibility for children.

State Board of Education shall make available resource materials and model curricula meeting these standards on its website, though school districts offering sex education may choose and adapt curricula to meet their community's specific needs.
