Designates January 30, 2017 as Fred T. Korematsu Day in Illinois to honor the civil rights activist who resisted Japanese American internment during World War II.

Commemorates Fred Korematsu's refusal to comply with Executive Order No. 9066 and Civilian Exclusion Order No. 34, which resulted in his arrest and imprisonment at the Topaz internment camp in Utah.

Acknowledges that Korematsu's Supreme Court case (decided 6-3 against him) upheld racial discrimination as constitutionally justified during wartime, and that his conviction was overturned on November 10, 1983 via writ of error corum nobis.

Encourages Illinois schools and universities to incorporate Fred Korematsu's story and his stand for civil liberties into their curricula.

Directs suitable copies of the resolution be sent to the Illinois Department of Education and each Illinois state university.
