HJR0037 - Trade Policy Task Force

• Creates a Trade Policy Task Force within the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity - Office of Trade and Investment to analyze international trade issues and make recommendations to Congress, the U.S. Trade Representative, and the White House National Trade Council.

• Task Force duties include analyzing growth of international trade from and to Illinois, recommending trade policies that serve Illinois, and promoting exportation and importation of goods and services.

• Membership consists of 26+ members including legislative appointees (8 total from House and Senate leadership), industry representatives (unions, manufacturers, agriculture, chemicals, coal, international trade), three gubernatorial appointees, and one appointee each from the mayors of Chicago, Rockford, Peoria, Granite City, Lawrenceville, and Savanna.

• Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity shall provide administrative support and reimburse task force members for reasonable and prudent expenses.

• Task Force must submit a final report by December 31, 2018.
