Recognizes May 19, 2017 as a day to honor police officers and firefighters who have lost their lives to suicide, PTSD, depression, and other mental health issues.

Acknowledges the Illinois Firefighter Peer Support (ILFFPS) team with 200 members that provides peer support to firefighters in need and has shared its vision nationally with Minnesota, Kentucky, Connecticut, North Carolina, Florida, and Alaska.

Notes that more firefighters died by suicide in 2015 and 2016 than died in the line of duty, and calls on state government to recognize behavioral health issues and support fire and EMS organizations with funding and policies.

Encourages fire and EMS organizations to place emergency vehicles on driveways and activate emergency lights for one minute at 9:00 pm on May 19, 2017 in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to the Illinois Firefighter Peer Support team as a symbol of respect and esteem.
