Highlights that pork is a nutritious protein source containing thiamin, selenium, niacin, vitamin B6, phosphorus, riboflavin, zinc, and potassium, with modern pork 16% leaner and 27% lower in saturated fat than 20 years ago.

States that Illinois ranks fourth nationally in swine production and the pork industry contributes more than $1.8 billion and over 10,500 jobs to the state's economy.

Recognizes that Baconfest, a Chicago-based tasting event, has raised over $300,000 since 2009 to distribute more than 924,000 meals through the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
