Draws historical parallel to the 1939 rejection of the SS St. Louis carrying 900 Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi persecution, noting that over half of those returned to Europe were later killed in the Holocaust.

Asserts that the United States and Illinois have historically welcomed people of all races, ethnicities, religions, and nationalities, and that this openness to immigrants and refugees is foundational to the nation's identity.

Directs that copies of the resolution be delivered to the President, Vice President, Congressional leadership, and all members of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
