Designates May 2017 as "Building Safety Month" in Illinois to recognize the role of building safety officials, fire prevention experts, and construction professionals in ensuring structural integrity and public safety.

Acknowledges the International Code Council's development of the most widely adopted building safety and fire prevention codes in the nation, which protect the public from natural disasters including hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes.

Establishes the 2017 Building Safety Month theme as "Code Officials-Partners in Community Safety and Economic Growth" to raise awareness about safe construction, fire prevention, disaster mitigation, and new technologies in the construction industry.

Directs the House to encourage Illinois citizens to participate in Building Safety Month activities and recognize the essential services provided by local and state building departments, fire prevention bureaus, and federal agencies in protecting lives and property.
