Declares May 2017 to be Community Action Awareness Month in Illinois to commemorate the 53rd Anniversary of the Decatur Macon County Opportunities Corporation (DMCOC).

Notes that 15.7% of Macon County's population lives in poverty according to the 2010 Census, and affirms that all residents should work toward providing comfortable living opportunities.

Recognizes DMCOC's service since 1964 as a community-based organization addressing poverty by providing skills, opportunities, advocacy, and services to help individuals become self-sufficient.

Documents that in 2016, DMCOC served 6,403 individuals, including 444 children in Head Start and 1,988 seniors through the Senior Nutrition program.

Directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to DMCOC as an expression of esteem and respect.
