Direct the Illinois State Board of Education to audit every Illinois school district's K-12 history curriculum to ensure compliance with the requirement to teach African American history

Review audit findings to determine: (1) whether districts include current African American history units, (2) grade level where teaching begins and ends, (3) whether standardized tests include African American history material, and (4) ISBE's enforcement protocols and penalties for non-compliance

Require the audit to be completed by August 15, 2018

Reference existing statute 105 ILCS 5/27-20.4 that mandates schools teach Black History including the African slave trade, slavery in America, individual African-American contributions, and the socio-economic struggle for equality
