Dennis H. Hewitt passed away on November 12, 2018; he was born May 14, 1949, in Elgin to Gerald and Lola Hewitt and married Mary Watermann on January 22, 1970.

Served as Executive Director of PADS of Elgin for 13 years, transforming the organization from a seasonal program to a permanent shelter before retiring in 2016; previously worked at Biggers Chevrolet for 27 years.

Volunteered as a Little League Baseball leader for 25 years, ensured every child got to play, and was an active church member, Food Pantry volunteer, and Gold Wing rider.

Survived by his wife Mary, son Rev. Dr. Kristopher Hewitt, grandson Aidan Hewitt, mother Lola, four siblings, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Illinois House of Representatives mourns his passing and extends condolences to his family and friends.
