Charles E. "Charlie" Tweedy of Wood River died on September 26, 2018, and the Illinois House of Representatives mourns his passing.

Tweedy was born September 8, 1932, attended East Alton-Wood River High School as a 2-time state qualifier in the half-mile, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Juneau, and married Carol R. Hanks on September 24, 1956.

Tweedy co-owned Charlie's Drive-In in Wood River and previously worked for Standard Oil, Taystee Bread, Mrs. Allison's Cookies, and Marks Mortuary.

Tweedy is survived by his wife Carol, four children (Scott, Tim, Rhonda, and Teresa), five grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his sister Dolores Kessler.

The House extends sincere condolences to Tweedy's family and friends and directs that a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to his family.
