Expands physical education exemptions to include grades 9 through 12, rather than limiting them to grades 11 and 12.

Allows school boards to excuse students in grades 9-12 from physical education if they participate in interscholastic athletics, required academic classes for college admission, or required classes for high school graduation.

Permits school boards to excuse grades 9-12 students enrolled in marching band programs and ROTC programs from physical education courses.

Maintains existing exemptions for students with special education needs and those with medical excuses from licensed physicians.

Takes effect July 1, 2017.
