State Board of Education shall annually assess all students in grades 3-8 in English language arts and mathematics beginning no later than 2014-2015 school year.

Science assessments required annually beginning no later than 2017-2018 school year at one grade each in grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

Secondary education programs must administer no more than 3 assessments per student in English language arts and mathematics, with one assessment including a college and career ready determination accepted by Illinois public higher education institutions.

Students not assessed for college and career readiness cannot receive a regular high school diploma unless exempted due to individualized educational program, adult education enrollment, English learner status with less than 12 months U.S. enrollment, or other State Board-identified exemptions.

Assessment scores for college and career ready determination must be placed in student's permanent record; scores from grades 3-8 assessments must be placed in temporary record; State Superintendent shall appoint committee of up to 21 members to review assessments and costs.
