IL SB0889

Amends the Jury Act to prohibit exclusion of qualified jurors based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or economic status in any Illinois court.

Defines "religion," "sex," and "national origin" according to the meanings provided in Section 1-103 of the Illinois Human Rights Act.

Maintains existing jury qualifications requiring jurors to be county inhabitants, at least 18 years old, U.S. citizens, of fair character, and able to understand English.

Allows county boards, jury administrators, and jury commissioners to utilize the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts when selecting jurors.
