IL SB1412

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to allow probation officers to carry firearms and other specified weapons with prior consent of the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court where employed, provided they complete weapons training under the Peace Officer and Probation Officer Firearm Training Act.

Removes restrictions that previously limited probation officers' weapon carrying to only during performance of official duties or while commuting between home and workplace.

Amends the Probation and Probation Officers Act (730 ILCS 110/17) to align weapon-carrying authorization with the new Criminal Code provisions.

Makes technical correction changing "ordinance" to "ordnance" in references to military explosives.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
