IL SB1441

Amends the Unified Code of Corrections Section 5-8-4 regarding concurrent and consecutive sentencing in Illinois.

Establishes that sentences shall run concurrently unless a court determines otherwise, except when specific mandatory consecutive sentencing circumstances apply.

Adds new provision exempting violations of electronic home monitoring conditions from mandatory consecutive sentencing under paragraphs (8) and (9), except upon the third or subsequent conviction.

Maintains existing mandatory consecutive sentencing requirements for serious offenses including first-degree murder, Class X and Class 1 felonies with severe bodily injury, sexual assault crimes, armed violence with specified predicate offenses, and crimes committed while in Department of Corrections custody.
