Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) is authorized to assess and collect reasonable fees for attendance at Agency-sponsored conferences by rule.

Fees collected from conference attendance shall be deposited in the Emergency Planning and Training Fund and used for planning and training activities subject to appropriation.

IEMA Director is appointed by the Governor with Senate consent for a 2-year term beginning the third Monday in January of odd-numbered years.

IEMA coordinates statewide emergency management programs including mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery for disasters and public health emergencies.

IEMA is authorized to award grants to hospitals, health care facilities, higher education institutions, and K-12 schools for safety and security improvements.
