Beginning with the 2019 registration year, the Secretary of State shall offer motor vehicle owners a choice of registration periods of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 calendar years for first and second division vehicles weighing no more than 8,000 pounds.

Vehicle owners shall pay a one-time registration fee under Sections 3-806, 3-815, or 3-818 that increases to reflect the chosen registration period length.

Registration plates remain valid for a minimum of one year and may be issued as two-year or five-year multi-year plates at the Secretary of State's discretion.

Renewal registration stickers shall be attached to plates as necessary under Section 3-413.

The Act takes effect upon becoming law.
