IL SB1541

Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act Section 3-203 to require legislators who take official action despite a conflict of interest to notify chamber members of the conflict.

Legislators must file a written notice describing the conflict with either the Secretary of the Senate or Clerk of the House of Representatives, depending on their chamber.

The Secretary or Clerk receiving the notification must forward a copy to the Legislative Information System for posting on the General Assembly's website alongside the applicable matter.

Maintains the existing requirement that legislators serve the public interest rather than private interests when acting despite a conflict situation.
