IL SB1640

Amends Section 3-15-2 of the Unified Code of Corrections concerning standards for local jails and juvenile detention facilities.

Makes a technical change by removing strikethrough text "The" and replacing it with underlined text "The" at the beginning of subsection (a).

Maintains existing provisions requiring the Department of Corrections to establish minimum standards for county and municipal jails regarding physical conditions, inmate treatment, health, safety, and community security.

Maintains existing provisions requiring the Department of Juvenile Justice to establish minimum standards for county juvenile detention and shelter care facilities under the County Shelter Care and Detention Home Act.

Preserves all existing requirements regarding facility inspections, noncompliance procedures, consultation services, grants for meeting standards, and standards for holding juveniles temporarily in county jails.
