IL SB1746

Amends the Children and Family Services Act to modify Section 7 regarding child placement considerations by the Department.

Requires the Department to place children with siblings unless placement is not in each child's best interest, and to consider placements that preserve and support sibling relationships.

Establishes that fictive kin (unrelated individuals with significant emotional ties to a child or family) may serve as placement options and must apply for foster family home licensure within 6 months of placement.

Prohibits Department from removing a child from a fictive kin's home solely based on failure to obtain licensure or failure to meet licensure standards.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
