IL SB1762

Expands the Illinois Freedom to Work Act to prohibit covenants not to compete for all employees, removing the previous limitation to only low-wage employees.

Removes the wage-based definition of "low-wage employee" and replaces it with a broader definition of "employee" as any individual permitted to work by an employer.

Prohibits employers from entering into any covenant not to compete that restricts an employee from working for another employer for a specified time period, in a specified geographical area, or in similar work.

Makes all covenants not to compete between employers and employees illegal and void if entered into after the effective date of this amendatory act.

Excludes governmental and quasi-governmental bodies from the definition of "employer" under this act.
