• Removes restriction that grants for fire protection district formation must come from the General Revenue Fund, allowing the Office of the State Fire Marshal to administer grants from other sources to areas without existing fire protection districts or municipal fire services.

• Transfers expense reimbursement authority for the Fire Fighting Medal of Honor Committee from the Office of the Governor to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

• Committee members (fire chiefs, firefighter organization representatives, and retired firefighters) continue to serve without compensation but receive reimbursement for actual expenses from appropriated funds.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
