SB1818 Summary

• Amends the Community Association Manager Licensing and Disciplinary Act to replace the "supervising community association manager" model with a "designated community association manager" system for firms providing management services.

• Eliminates licensing requirements for community association management firms as separate entities and requires firms to operate through a licensed designated community association manager who serves as the controlling person and authorized signatory.

• Removes the prohibition preventing support staff (bookkeepers, administrative assistants, secretaries, property inspectors, customer service representatives) from being excluded from the definition of community association managers.

• Modifies the Licensing and Disciplinary Board composition by removing the requirement that at least two members be supervising community association managers and adds two new grounds for discipline related to operating firms without a designated manager.

• Repeals Section 42 of the Act and makes all amended sections subject to repeal on January 1, 2020.
