SB1981 Summary

• Prohibits any person from trapping bobcat in Illinois at any time, making bobcat trapping unlawful statewide.

• Prohibits knowingly selling, offering for sale, or purchasing bobcat pelts from bobcats taken in Illinois.

• Removes references to "and trapping" from the bobcat hunting permit requirement, leaving only bobcat hunting permits available.

• Maintains river otter pelt tagging requirements in accordance with federal regulation 50 CFR 23.69(e), with registration and tagging fees not to exceed $5 per pelt.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
