IL SB2048

Amends the Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004 to allow State's Attorneys and circuit or associate judges to obtain firearm control cards.

Requires State's Attorneys (elected, appointed, or designated assistants) and judges to complete an approved firearm training course and possess a valid firearm owner identification card to qualify for a firearm control card.

Permits State's Attorneys to apply for firearm control cards on behalf of themselves or their designated assistants, with the Department issuing cards that identify the holder and specify authorized weapon types.

Authorizes judges to apply directly to the Department for firearm control cards under the same training and identification requirements as State's Attorneys.

Maintains existing provisions that firearm control card requirements do not apply to peace officers and that fingerprint vendors and locksmiths are prohibited from obtaining such cards.
