Beginning with the 2019 catalog and every 2 years thereafter, the Department must submit a review and report on State mandates enacted in the previous 2 years to the Governor and General Assembly.

Beginning with the 2017 catalog and every 10 years thereafter, the Department must submit a comprehensive review and report on all effective State mandates at the time of submission.

Mandate reports must include factual information from the State Mandates Act catalog plus optional information on local government support/opposition, whether mandates meet policy objectives, needed amendments, and recommendations for retention or rescission.

Reports must include comments from affected units of government and a statewide cost of compliance estimate for each mandate.

Appropriate General Assembly committees must review reports and initiate legislation or other action as deemed necessary.
