IL SB2068

Amends the Illinois Local Library Act to allow library boards of trustees to authorize advisory referenda questions on ballots at regularly scheduled elections by majority vote.

Permits advisory questions to be placed on ballots in the city, village, incorporated town, or township where the public library is located, provided the question directly relates to library operations.

Amends the Public Library District Act of 1991 to grant library district boards the same authority to authorize advisory referenda questions at regularly scheduled elections in their districts.

Requires library boards to certify advisory questions to the proper election authority, which must submit the questions in accordance with the Election Code.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
