IL SB2069

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to prohibit the Department of Healthcare and Family Services from requiring a physician or licensed health care professional to be physically present in the same room as the patient for the entire duration of telepsychiatry services.

Prohibits the Department from requiring a physician or licensed health care professional to be physically present in the same room as the patient for the entire duration of telemedicine services.

Defines "telemedicine" as the use of a telecommunication system to provide medical services for evaluation and treatment when the patient and rendering provider are at different locations.

Maintains Department authority to establish criteria for telepsychiatry reimbursement, including facility and equipment requirements and rules for practitioner presence at the patient's location.
