IL SB2229

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to allow possession of switchblade knives for persons 18 years of age or older, removing the previous requirement to possess a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card.

Exempts switchblade knives from the unlawful weapons statute (720 ILCS 5/24-1) for adults aged 18 and above, as well as persons or entities engaged in selling or manufacturing switchblades.

Retains all other restrictions on switchblade possession for minors under 18 years of age.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
