• Parents, guardians, and agents may request security freezes on behalf of minors and persons with disabilities under specified legal authority.

• Consumer reporting agencies must temporarily lift a freeze within 3 business days when requested by a consumer providing proper identification and the unique PIN provided by the agency.

• Security freezes remain in effect until the consumer requests removal, and agencies must notify consumers before removing any freeze and provide written confirmation of freeze placement within 10 business days.
