IL SB2238

Prohibits home rule counties from imposing a tax on sweetened beverages based on volume sold under their home rule authority.

Voids any county ordinance adopted on or before the effective date that imposes a sweetened beverage tax based on volume.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.

Establishes this prohibition as a constitutional limitation on home rule units' taxing power under Article VII, Section 6(g) of the Illinois Constitution.
