IL SB2246

Allows township land commissioners or trustees of schools to sell common school lands to government entities by resolution, notwithstanding existing restrictions in Section 15-7 of the School Code.

Requires the resolution to declare lands as surplus, describe the property, and outline sale terms, with approval by two-thirds of the township land commissioners or trustees of schools in office.

Mandates delivery of a certified copy of the resolution to the regional superintendent of schools within 7 days, who then completes the sale and issues a certificate of purchase.

Exempts sales under this new process from Sections 15-8 through 15-13 of the School Code.

Modifies Section 15-18 to establish procedures for purchasers under the new provision to obtain replacement certificates of purchase or patents by filing affidavits and presenting the certified resolution filed with the county recorder of deeds.
