IL SB2253

Amends the Criminal Code of 2012 to prohibit the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, or possession of bump-fire stocks for semi-automatic firearms, effective 120 days after the bill becomes law.

Defines "bump-fire stock" as a butt stock attachment designed to increase the rate of fire of a semi-automatic firearm to that of a fully automatic firearm by using recoil energy to facilitate repeated trigger activation.

Violation of the bump-fire stock prohibition constitutes a Class 4 felony.

Exempts persons who possessed a bump-fire stock before the effective date of the bill from prosecution.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
