IL SB2264

Requires at least one of the two commissioners appointed by each legislative leader (President and Minority Leader of Senate, Speaker and Minority Leader of House) to be a member of the general public.

Prohibits persons from serving as commissioners if they hold a partisan elected or political party office, or are officers or employees of a political committee or campaign, except for General Assembly members.

Maintains existing eligibility restrictions for commissioners, including disqualifications for felony convictions, crimes of dishonesty or moral turpitude, recent lobbying activities, being relatives of appointing authorities, or being State officers or employees other than General Assembly members.

Restricts commissioners from becoming candidates for office, holding other elected or appointed public offices, being actively involved in political party affairs, or advocating for appointments or campaign participation during their term.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
