IL SB2272

Amends the Criminal Code to add Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) employees to the list of protected individuals under aggravated battery statutes.

Makes it aggravated battery (Class 1 felony) to knowingly cause great bodily harm, permanent disability, or disfigurement to a DCFS employee performing official duties, preventing performance of duties, or in retaliation for performing duties.

Makes it aggravated battery (Class 2 felony) to knowingly cause any battery to a DCFS employee performing official duties, preventing performance of duties, or in retaliation for performing duties.

Extends existing protections previously granted to peace officers, firefighters, correctional officers, and Department of Human Services employees to DCFS employees under the same circumstances and penalty levels.
