• Removes the cap of 120 total charter schools operating statewide under Illinois charter school law.

• Eliminates the limit of 70 charter schools in cities with populations exceeding 500,000 and removes the 45 charter school limit for the remainder of the state.

• Removes the requirement that the State Board of Education assign numbers to charter submissions based on chronological order of receipt.

• Retains existing provisions allowing up to 5 dropout recovery charter schools in large cities, with provisions for up to 15 campuses per charter and a maximum enrollment of 1,875 seats per charter.
