• Adds "trigger modification device" to the list of prohibited weapons under Illinois Criminal Code Section 24-1, making it unlawful to knowingly sell, manufacture, purchase, possess, or carry such devices.

• Defines trigger modification device as any part or combination of parts designed to accelerate firearm rate of fire without converting it to a machine gun, including parts that use recoil to produce rapid trigger functions or external mechanisms to produce multiple trigger functions.

• Establishes violation of the trigger modification device prohibition as a Class 2 felony with mandatory imprisonment of not less than 3 years and not more than 7 years, or Class X felony if the weapon is loaded and on the person or in a vehicle passenger compartment.

• Maintains existing exemptions and penalties structure for other unlawful weapons violations under current law.

• Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
