Schools must conduct a law enforcement drill within 90 days of the first day of each school year to address active threat or active shooter incidents within school buildings.

Law enforcement drills must be conducted according to the school district's emergency and crisis response plans and must evaluate preparedness of school personnel and students.

Drills must occur when students are normally present and include participation from all school personnel and students present, except administrators or support personnel may exempt students at their discretion.

Local law enforcement agencies must observe the administration of the drill; if a mutually agreeable date cannot be reached between the school and law enforcement, the school must still conduct the drill independently.

The law enforcement official must certify that the drill was conducted and notify the school of any deficiencies noted.
