IL SB2446

Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code to authorize reimbursement for telepsychiatry services provided by psychiatrists and advanced practice registered nurses certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing to Medicaid recipients.

Requires the Department of Healthcare and Family Services to establish rules for telepsychiatry reimbursement, including criteria for facilities, equipment, and whether a licensed health care professional must be present at the patient's location.

Specifies that a physician or licensed health care professional is not required to be physically present in the same room as the patient during telepsychiatry services.

Authorizes reimbursement through federally qualified health centers as defined under the federal Social Security Act.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
